The Role of Nigerian Tertiary Institutions in Graduate Recruitment

The Role of Nigerian Tertiary Institutions in Graduate Recruitment

Most Nigerian pupils leave college with the mindset of procuring high paying occupations dependent on the simple fact that they're preferred or attached to the proper people who can help them get used in almost any high paying business of the choice.
It needs to be mentioned that the financial position and the employment market in Nigeria will encourage this believing, therefore most young folks graduates in the tertiary institutions are ill-equipped.

At the light of the above mentioned, organizations recruit new graduates with the purpose of creating the skill sets of those individuals before eventually absorbing them in the mainstream characters in the business.
Graduate recruitment is now an uphill task, as a large number of applicants need to get analyzed to receive a small number of great candidates match for particular job/role.

The tertiary institutions that created these graduates have never been able to match with the conventional output expedient in the current workplace. They've become centres for academic certifications acquisition instead of the training ground for knowledge and skills acquisition.
This clarifies company's preference for international talent, thus the rush to research overseas. The British Embassy alone claimed to have obtained over 60,000student visa programs in 2007 from fellow pupils to research in the united kingdom.

Incessant strikes, shaky and incoherent government education policies, lack of great facilities, interrupted and disjointed academic calendar, problems of financing, obsolete course materials and a number of other vices are a part of the distractions that's impacting the tertiary institutions.
In light of the above mentioned, it's pertinent that modifications must arrive at the tertiary institutions to meet up with international employment requirements.

Tertiary institutions in Nigeria need to offer career development solutions including career counselling, job skill trainings, training and training, student schemes, etc to be able to enhance and develop the skill sets and interests of the pupils. This can help build the degree of professionalism needed at work.
