California State University,Stanislaus
California State University, Stanislaus, (also known as
Stanislaus State or simply Stan State) is a campus in the 23 school California
State University system which was established in 1957 in Turlock, California,
United States. It is also the only campus in the CSU system to offer a
bachelor's degree in cognitive studies. The university offers 133 Bachelor's
degrees, 35 Master's degrees, two Doctoral degrees (Doctor of Education), and
14 teaching credentials.
Stanislaus State has been rated in the top 10 public universities
in the new West Coast Master's category by U.S. News & World Report
magazine as well as a best buy in higher education for the past seven years.[4]
Stanislaus is also one of the two campuses (other one being Sonoma State
University) in the 23-campus CSU system listed among the best undergraduate
colleges by The Princeton Review.[5] A 2015 study commissioned by National
Public Radio found that Stanislaus State was ranked 5th in the nation for
upward mobility - behind only University of California, Irvine, Stanford
University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University.
Accreditations:
Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC)
Reaccreditation Self Study
California
State University, Stanislaus was reaccredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) for nine years in July,
2010.
Since the last
CSU Stanislaus review, WASC implemented a new accreditation review process.
This new process aligns accreditation efforts with the university's internal
planning and review mechanisms and shifts from a compliance review to a
validation of effective ongoing internal systems of review and improvement
within the university.

Admission Process for the above is as follows:
If a student
is conditionally admitted, the student must become proficient in the English
language before he or she will be permitted to apply for admission for degree
study. An I-20 will be issued for an adequate period of time for the student to
achieve proficiency and to obtain the degree. However, if the student does not
become proficient in the English language, he or she will not be able to get
accepted in the degree program.
If a student
chooses not to provide the required credentials for admission into a degree
program, an I-20 will be issued for ESL only for an appropriate amount of time
to become proficient in English.
Stanislaus
State presently does not conditionally admit applicants to graduate programs
(Masters or Ph.D.) who have not provided a TOEFL, IELTS or ELS Language Center
Score with their application.

Program Admission
In addition to
Graduate admission, program admission is required to pursue a graduate degree
or post baccalaureate credential. Students should apply at the same time to the
Program and the Graduate School. Program admissions are competitive and many
have specific application deadlines. Some programs have one admission date per
year. For these reasons and to ensure full consideration, students are
encouraged to apply to the program as early as possible. Master’s degree and
credential program applicants may also be required to provide additional
transcripts and test scores to their graduate program department or the
Credentials Office. To determine your specific program’s requirements go to the Graduate School's websiteand select your program. If you have any
further questions or concerns regarding the items you need to submit to your
program, please contact the Program Coordinators.
English Language Program
English Language Program: University Readiness
The English Language Program (ELP) is a non-credit
intensive English program for international students. ELP courses are designed
to prepare students for academic study at the university. In addition, the
course prepares students for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL),
which is required for admission.
Note the following:
1.
ELP is a 1-year program. However, students passing the TOEFL
exam at the end of the first semester (or the end of each session) may move
into their program of study at the university provided they meet all the other
admission requirements. Students have the option of taking an additional
semester of ELP, if necessary.
2.
ELP is a 14-week program for Fall and Spring semesters.
3.
The cost of ELP is $4,400 for an entire semester or $2,300
per semester session.
4.
Admission to ELP does not ensure admission to California State
University, Stanislaus.
5.
Students enrolled in ELP are not allowed to enroll in university
courses, unless prior
approval is granted.

Attendance and Participation
Attendance and participation is essential for
success within the University system. Students will be held responsible for
attendance at all classes. If they must miss class due to extenuating
circumstances, they need to take the responsibility of alerting the instructor
by email (the sooner, the better) and make up any assignments that were missed.
More than 5 absences (20 hours) will warrant a failure of the program.
Grading
The grading for this class is PASS, SP
(Satisfactory Progress), or FAIL. This class does not receive any University
credit, although those who successfully pass the class will receive a
Certificate of Completion.
In order to pass the course, students must
meet all requirements and demonstrate proficiency in speaking, listening,
reading, and writing. A portfolio of individual student work will be submitted
at the end of the course, which will be reviewed by independent readers, to
determine student progress. Proficiency will mainly be calculated using the
final TOEFL score earned at the end of the semester. The portfolio and the
TOEFL score together will determine whether students have demonstrated
sufficient progress and if they pass the course.
