About CalUMS

 CaliforniaUniversity of Management and Sciences (CalUMS) was organized as a non-profit, public benefit corporation, charted in the State of California. CalUMS is an institution of higher education which offers associate’s degrees in Healthcare Business Administration, Bodyworks, Paralegal Studies, Veterinary Technology, and Professional Golf Management; bachelor’s degrees in Business Management, Sports Management (Golf, Taekwondo), Economics, International Business, and Computer Information Systems; master’s degrees in Business Administration, Sports Management (Golf, Taekwondo), Economics, International Business, Computer Information Systems, and Healthcare Management; and professional doctoral degree in Business Administration. CalUMS also offers a certificate program in English as a Second Language.



In 1998, the Bureau of Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education of the State of California approved California College of Management and Sciences. In June 2002, the school changed its name to “California University of Management and Sciences”.

In addition to the admission requirements and procedures previously mentioned, international students must submit the following documents and fees:
·        Except for ESL applicants, TOEFL score, taken not more than 2 years from the date of application, of at least 45 iBT or its equivalent for Undergraduate Programs (Associate and Bachelor’s Degree Levels), and 61 iBT or its equivalent for Master’s Programs. Applicants who do not meet these requirements must take the Institutional TOEFL Program (iTP) and obtain a passing score. Those who did not obtain passing scores shall be required to register and attend the English Language Development (ELD) class/es until they achieve adequate proficiency in the English language. For DBA program applicants, TOEFL score of at least 550 PBT or its equivalent; taken not more than two (2) years from the date of application. Applicants who do not possess TOEFL or equivalent scores will be required to take theCalUMS Graduate Level English Proficiency Test (GLEPT) and obtain a passing score. Those who did not obtain passing scores will be required to register Graduate Level English Proficiency (GLEP) classes in CalUMS until they achieve the required English proficiency level.
·        International students who have either: (a) earned a U.S. high school diploma, or (b) completed at least one year of higher education in the U.S. in which English was the major language of instruction, are exempted from the TOEFL score requirement.
·        Except for ESL applicants, foreign transcript evaluation of official transcript/s recognized and approved by CalUMS.  Foreign Transcript Evaluation Fee of $200 (non-refundable) for course-by-course evaluation. International students who earned their education outside the United States must be graduates of institutions recognized by their government and their transcript/s must be translated into English and evaluated by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) to determine its U.S. education equivalency.
·        Financial Statement that shows adequate fund to support tuition and fees for completion of the program.
·        Photocopy of Passport (photo with date of birth)
·        Mailing fee (non-refundable) amount depending on the student’s country of origin. This fee is required for international students being issued new I-20 (Certificate of Eligibility) only. It is not required for F-1 transfer-in students or students with existing I-20s from other originating schools.

·        PROCESSING TIME
o   Once an application and all supporting documents have been received by the Office of Admissions, approximately three to four (3-4) weeks should be allowed for processing.
o   To receive the earliest consideration, an applicant requiring an F-1 visa should submit an application and supporting documents according to
o   The Office of Admissions will issue the letter of acceptance together with the I-20 to applicants who have been accepted to CalUMS.
o   CalUMS will not issue an I-20 until the student has been accepted and that his or her financial status has been verified by the University.
o   Students who have been issued a new I-20 by CalUMS Form must physically report to the Office of Admissions within seven (7) days after arriving in the U.S., or their I-20s will be voided.
·         F-1 transfer-in students, or students with existing I-20s from other originating schools, must report to the Office of Admiss
